I was a teacher for almost twenty years, and loved my job. I felt that I could transfer some of my passion and enthusiasm for teaching to future teachers.
My favourite thing about what we teach is the research we use and create to support our teachers in training in their future career. Learning how to help children to learn in the best possible way, to feel that they belong and that they are important, are some of the most important things a new teacher can learn.
Every day is different in education. A mixture of lectures, days at network schools, teaching experience and seminars all combine to create a varied and exciting course.
A career in education is one of the most rewarding careers you can have. Although it may seem challenging and daunting, the best things usually are, and it's definitely worth it for a job where no two days are the same.

I have a passion for science but realised during my degree that this might well lead me to spending much of my time in isolation working on a screen and I realised that I also have a passion for people and learning and interaction so teaching seemed to combine these.
I love the fact that my subject allows me to be as creative as I want. Teaching is a subject where the more inventive you can be the more you will engage your students.
Science for me is the very foundations of our world. it is a subject where we are constantly pushing back the boundaries of what we know and with the right explanation any student can understand where we are at the forefront of our knowledge.
The most fascinating study I have worked on was the F1 in schools project we currently do with our PGCE course. it combines programming, software, physics, design, marketing. It is so broad that we literally can't fit it all in!
