As a team, we want to ensure all those involved in the education of our Physiotherapy students receive ongoing support and training.Ìý
Our in-house clinical education training days have been designed especially for you as clinical educators. All courses will be delivered on our Bangor and Wrexham campuses.

The focus of our Physiotherapy Clinical Education Training Days is dependent on need and will be tailored to suit our audience.Ìý
For those new to clinical education or planning to take on a student after an extended hiatus, our ‘introductory course’ provides an ideal starting point.Ìý
Ìý
We also run ‘updates courses’ which cater for practice placement educators who haven't received an update in the past two years but have already completed the introductory course.

Jonathan Flynn
Jonathan is a lecturer, senior tutor and the Director for Post Graduate Education in the School of Health Sciences at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. He has worked in Higher Education Institutions for over 20 years and has a depth of experience in curricula design, teaching and learning, assessment and developing meaningful educational experiences. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has received many posts graduate awards and accolades. His main research interest is theologically driven and focussed around concepts associated with pilgrimage and long-distance walking.

Emily Rigby
Ìý
Emily is a lecturer in Health Sciences at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. She has over 10 years of experience in direct clinical education whilst working in a local Health Board as a clinical specialist. Emily has worked in the University since 2021, leading and facilitating teaching and learning on the pre-registration Physiotherapy Postgraduate MSc / Diploma programme. She is the lead for clinical placements and is continually
working to improve clinical placement opportunities and experiences for students and clinical educators alike.

The focus and content of these courses vary. Some examples of course content includes: Ìý
Introductory course
- The fundamentals of clinical education
- The profile of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Physiotherapy students.
- Organising and being prepared for clinical education (including ethical and professional considerations).
- Navigating and understanding the CPAF paperwork used in clinical education.
- Dealing with challenges in clinical education.
Update course
The update course is more focussed to specific needs. ÌýIn advance of these courses, we survey attendees and collate themes and preferred content. Ìý
Additionally, revisions to introductory materials will be presented to attendees. ÌýWe will also examine the challenges faced in clinical education and develop perspectives and solutions to deal with these.
We will also discuss and start to develop strategies to instigate positive changes in student education.
Regardless of course, our delivery will focus on empowering clinical educators to be confident in dealing with real-world scenarios.
Further information
At the end of this course, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion, evidencing 7 hours of CPD.
