Why Bangor?

³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ is a strong choice for my course because it is located in a region with a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing. The calm and supportive environment of the university and its surroundings compliments the nature of counselling training. In addition, the course is inclusive and non-restrictive, providing a solid foundation for individuals from diverse backgrounds who wish to pursue a career in counselling.

The lecturers 

I really like how approachable and supportive the course tutors are. The teaching is well blended, with rich and engaging content that integrates theory, case studies, skills practice, and placement learning. This balance has helped me connect academic learning directly to real-world counselling practice.

Social Life

The social life in Bangor is very welcoming, with a range of events and trips organised by the accommodation teams and Undeb. These activities make it easy to meet new people, and I’ve made several friends through attending them. Overall, it feels easy to build connections and feel part of the community here.

Accommodation

My experience in university accommodation was very positive. The staff were friendly, and I was even upgraded to a bigger room for free, which made my first year even better. Along with the fun events organised in halls, it was an enjoyable and social environment. I am now living in private accommodation, which also hosts events and is nice, but I would say I had the most fun in university accommodation.

Student Support 

I used the visa advice service, which was very helpful. The staff were approachable, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the process, and I plan to return for further guidance if needed.

Job Opportunities

I got a part-time job in the university’s calling campaign by signing up as a Student Ambassador. I would say it’s important to act quickly and consistently and put yourself forward to get a job.

Bangor and the Area

Bangor is a calm and welcoming city with many scenic places to walk and hike, including a coastal walking trail that feels endless. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful, making it easy to enjoy nature and outdoor activities in your free time.
 

The Future

I am very confident that my ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ degree will support my future career. It has provided a strong foundation for becoming a qualified counsellor through its combination of theory, practical placements, personal counselling, supervision, and assignments that closely reflect real-life tasks in the field.
 

Best thing about Bangor

The best thing about studying at Bangor has been enjoying my course, having supportive tutors, and the chance to explore Bangor and the surrounding areas through fun, free, or affordable events and trips.
