Ruchen Ye Counselling MSc - China
Why Bangor?
The MSc in Counselling is an intensive programme: full-time over two years or part-time over four years. It includes a dissertation and a 100-hour placement requirement. If you are truly passionate about counselling, this programme is for you. You will not regret it. Are you ready for the challenge of exploring your inner world more deeply?
The lecturers
Generally, it鈥檚 very good. Before each class, the lecturer uploads the slides for you to review in advance and usually uploads the recording after the session for revision. All lecturers are supportive and approachable.
Social Life
There are a few bars and clubs here. But I am more like a indoor person. However, the beautiful scenery would just tempt you to go out and explore more. And by joining the student ambassador scheme I make friends with a bunch of interesting students from different countries. Definitely sign up even just for some pocket money.
Student Support
I haven't accessed any of the support services offered but I know they provide comprehensive mental health support for students, such as counselling and art therapy. We also have regular pastoral meetings with our designated tutor, which is a nice way to offload some stress.
Job Opportunities
Currently, i鈥檓 working as a student ambassador, helping with open days and calling campaigns.
Bangor and the Area
Bangor is a lovely place. The supermarkets, city centre, and railway station are all within walking distance, which is ideal for those who are not keen on driving. People here are very friendly and helpful.
The Future
As my programme is recognised by the national professional body, the NCPS, I鈥檓 confident I can gain full accreditation after completing my studies. I鈥檓 ready to embark on my journey as a counsellor.
Best thing about Bangor
From the halls to the campus, everything is within walking distance. If you love Harry Potter, you鈥檒l love the Hogwarts-like library.
Describe Bangor in three words
Lovely, fascinating, scenic.
