A complete support package for teaching literacy in schools is being developed by CAL:ON Cymru. The resources include whole-class programmes and interventions for learners from reception through to secondary age. CAL:ON Cymru is also developing Professional Learning modules and literacy guidance for educators, along with assessments to check learners' literacy levels and progress. From September 2027, these resources will be available free of charge to all schools in Wales via Hwb. However, schools can gain early access to the resources by taking part in the programme during 2026.
CAL:ON Cymru is a centre of excellence for literacy based at 成人VR视频, which has received funding from the Welsh Government to improve literacy outcomes in Wales.
Everything CAL:ON Cymru produces is based on evidence and the Science of Reading. During this early access phase, the centre will work with data and feedback from schools, allowing its team of researchers and teachers to refine the resources ahead of national rollout.
All CAL:ON Cymru materials are available in Welsh and English and have been developed bilingually. This means they are rooted in the language and culture of Wales.
For the opportunity to access these literacy resources from September 2026 and help shape the development of this nationwide support package, your school is invited to complete the form linked below/here. Please indicate on the form which project your school would like to take part in. You may select to participate in all programmes or select one, according to your preference. Please respond before 26th June if you want to access the secondary school resources and 10th July if you want to access the primary school resources.
